About White House
White House takes its name from a two-story house Richard Stone Wilks built in 1829 beside the Louisville & Nashville Turnpike, a stop stagecoach drivers began calling the White House. The house came down in 1951, and a 1986 replica beside the fire department now holds the White House Inn Library and Museum. I-65 and U.S. 31W cross here, about 22 miles north of downtown Nashville.
