About Adams and Cedar Hill

Adams grew in the late 1850s as a station on the Edgefield and Kentucky Railroad beside the Red River, and is known for the Bell Witch legend of 1817 to 1820: John Bell's log cabin, built around 1810, stands across from the 1920 Bell School, now city hall. Cedar Hill, to the southeast on U.S. 41, sits beside the 200-acre Cedar Hill Swamp wildlife area of pin oak and sweetgum.
